About our Trips

Safety is our first priority. We travel on scenic byways where traffic is light, and try to include a well-graded gravel or dirt road each day. We tailor our trip to your abilities and style of riding so you can get the most out of your experience.

We will arrange a local motorcycle rental for you: options include bikes such as the BMW 650, 800, and 1200 GS. I will be your guide on my BMW 1200 GS. If you want to bring a passenger, we recommend the 1200 GS. If you prefer a different motorcycle, please contact us in advance; we will be more than happy to try to arrange a custom rental for you. We always bring a spare bike in case of technical problems on the road and a support vehicle for extra luggage, tools and as a place for tired riders to rest for a stretch.

We are members of BMW Motorcycle Owners of America.

What’s Included

Our tour price includes the following services:

Accommodations:

We choose hotels, motels and lodges carefully to ensure your maximum comfort and enjoyment on our trips while keeping prices reasonable. Most will combine private rooms with a group gathering area for socializing and meals.

Breakfast:

We prepare a home-cooked breakfast for you every day to get you off to a great start. After breakfast, there will be a short briefing about the day’s route and highlights.

Dinner:

Last dinner is included.  Vegetarians are welcome! Please notify us of any special needs or dietary restrictions in advance.

Rest Days:

Our longer trips include one or more rest days. We encourage you to explore and will provide you with suggestions and directions. On rest days, the only meal we serve is breakfast so that you may enjoy the local attractions of your choice on your own time. If you choose to ride your motorcycle on a rest day, any extra gas purchased is your responsibility.

Motorcycle Rental:

The tour price includes the rental of a basic touring bike such as a BMW 650 or similar. You are welcome to choose a bigger/more expensive motorcycle. There is an extra charge for the upgrade. Unlimited mileage is included in the tour price, as well as gas, third-party liability and collision insurance, and taxes. We include a helmet and raincoat with each rental.

When we pick up your rental bike, you will need to provide a credit card to guarantee the insurance deductible on the bike of your choice. The deductible is about $1500 depending on your bike. You will not be charged anything, but a signed credit card slip is required to rent the vehicle.

Bring Your Bike

If you wish to bring your own motorcycle, please contact us and we can provide you with a customized price for your trip.

National Park Fees:

Our trips take us through various national and state parks. Day passes for entry to these parks are included in the trip price.

Maps and Guide Books:

After you book your trip with us, we will mail you a packet which includes maps and guidebooks relevant to our route, as well as information on what to pack and other details.

Support Vehicle:

Each trip is accompanied by a support vehicle to carry your luggage (max. 2 pieces per person), as well as food, tools . When you arrive at your destination each evening, your luggage will be waiting for you in your room .

Your Guides:

Your guides will pick you up at the airport and take care of you from the moment you arrive until you fly back home at the end of your vacation.

More Rules and Suggestions

We ride at a safe and easy pace. Everyone is given a two-way radio in case of separation from the group. We will wait for the last rider at every major intersection. Please keep a safe distance between riders, always be alert, follow all road and traffic regulations, and watch for animals, rocks and other obstacles on the road.

What to Wear

As you know, weather is an important factor on motorcycle rides and may influence our trip route and schedule. We may change our route or plans as needed – your safety is our #1 priority! Depending on which tour you choose, we will provide additional advice on appropriate clothing and other details.

Temperatures can range from 40 degrees in the morning to 100 degrees on a hot desert afternoon. Altitude is another important factor. Most of our trips start in Denver (elevation 5280’). Some of Colorado’s passes reach 12,000 feet at their summit and conditions can be dramatically different from those in the valley below. In Utah, Nevada and Arizona you can expect warm weather even in early spring. We will make frequent stops so you can adjust your clothing and protective gear as needed (and take pictures!). We provide a helmet and raincoat to each rider and recommend that you bring good riding boots, pants, jacket and gloves. If you have any other special needs, please contact us in advance.
